But if you prefer to enjoy your stay in a more relaxing and peaceful environment, the Hotel's terrace, located on the top floor, offers you the possibility of sunbathing, taste a refreshing Cuban cocktail or enjoy the views of the city in one side or the marine environment of the Bay of Gibara, located just a few blocks from the hotel. So you will be very welcome and pampered by the Hotel staff whatever your choice is. The Ordono Hotel has been restored to its original Spanish colonial grandiose splendour & was re-opened in January 2013. Early reports suggest that guests are being very well looked after & are enjoying their stay tremendously. The staff's friendliness, the food, the spectacular views, architectural style, airy lobby bar opening into the street & roof terrace bar have all been highly praised by the hotel's first guests. The Ordono, or more correctly spelt Ordoņo, has 27 rooms on two floors; the second floor is built following the Italian mezzanine system. The restoration includes the early twentieth century paintings by León Hernández Cáceres, an artist from the Canary Islands based in Gibara. It is claimed that the Ordoņo hotel was founded by a Felipe Ordoņo that imigrated to Cuba in the early 1900īs from Spain. This successfull "Man of God" generously donated to the city the ocean front "Parque de las Madres".
